Windows 3.1x (codenamed Janus) is a series of 16-bit operating systems, produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers.
The series began with Windows 3.1, which was first sold during April 1992 as a successor to Windows 3.0. Subsequent versions were released between 1992 and 1994 until the series was superseded by Windows 95. During its lifespan, Windows 3.1 introduced various enhancements to the still MS-DOS-based platform, including improved system stability, expanded support for multimedia, TrueType fonts, and workgroup networking. Windows 3.1 was originally released on April 6, 1992; official support for Windows 3.1 ended on December 31, 2001, and OEM licensing for Windows for Workgroups 3.11 on embedded systems continued to be available until November 1, 2008. The emulator works well on this website, however the ZIP file is a scam.
I investigated it carefully and came to the conclusion that it is a silly joke by some teenage wannabe h4x0r. The archive actually includes most of what is presented in the browser emulator, however WIN.COM is a player that displays the Windows 3.11 splash screen that plays two MODEM dialing out sound files. First of all, I have no freaking Dialup MODEM anymore, it's 2017 for crying out loud!
So this is when my suspicion already started. Yet I thought about a faulty configuration, which wasn't the case. Then I investigated the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and subdirectories.
Product license key download free. The NE2000 directory is missing, so is WINPCKT. Which are referred to in the Batchfile.

Meaning: the packet driver is missing and not loaded. My advice, play with it in the browser emulator, but don't download the ZIP file. It's pathetic! I ran this zip file through several virus checkers, and it came up clean.
Here's what I think happened. This version of Windows is configured with Trumpet Winsock, which is how Windows users used to dial in to their ISP. It's configured to 'dial in' to a virtual ISP that runs in AWS. When you downloaded it and ran it in native DOSBox, this initiated an outgoing connection on port 12347, which your malware detection saw as suspicious activity. The window hung because it was unable to establish a connection, and because old Windows software was notoriously bad at handling failure cases like this. I extracted the file, and my eset anti-virus popped up claiming that one of the unpacked files was a trojan. The file was './win31/TRUMPET/WINAPPS/TRUMPINg.EXE'.
I ignored the claim for the moment, and decided to launch the WIN.BAT file with DOSBox. It immediately opened countless windows inside the Windows 3.1 emulation, than it opened another one that said it was dialing something. It took a while to get it to close. Alt-F4 did not work, I had to press the Windows 8 start button, go back to the desktop and end the process with task manager. I do not think this file is trustworthy.

Fishstix worked with me for 2+ days in order to get my game running. He responded to every e-mail and request same day and if he could not provide a fix, he was working with me every step of the way to get this app running on my device.
Thanks to the dev, I am playing all my PC faves-Rise of the Triad, Blake Stone, Quake, Doom, and Wolfenstein!!!! I have all of the devs apps and love every 1 of them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! You need an external controller. Tried to play wolfenstien, but the virtual joystick only works turning left or moving up regardless of sensitivity or calibration.
The touchscreen as mouse option wasnt much better, with dragging my finger across horizontal only turning about 10° regardless of sensitivity, and not picking up that i returned my finger to the center of the screen and started swiping again for a half a second. It works great with an xbox controller plugged in, but that defeats the purpose of dos box in my pocket. Great emulator, probably the best however as always if you are new to emulators it's pretty tricky to get games working is you are NOT rooting from a pc. If you are struggling I can only suggest downloading a file manager and creating a folder called dos on to your Sdcard then changing the directory within dosbox from: storage/emulator/0/downloads To storage/emulator/0/dos Then create separate folders within /dos for your separate games (making sure the folder names are no longer than 8 letters long) and move your downloaded games into the folders. Open dosbox and C drive should be running from your new dos directory, from here you type the command: cd dune (example of file name within dos) And then type the games execution file, example duneprg.exe (for dune) And off you go. You will have to look through the games folder and work out the execution file yourself.
I hope that helps someone because this is an amazing emulator. I commend Dosbox Turbo of having the easiest way of installing Windows and supporting 3Dfx/voodoo. Definitely brings a lot of titles from the early 2000 and before being able to run.

Sadly the UI is complicated beyond belief and not very user friendly, controller/keyboard wise especially. Magic Dosbox allows you to change settings in the fly, have widgets/keyboard keys anywhere on screen and highly configure to your needs, and has a completely transparent keyboard built in - all this lacking in Dosbox Turbo. You also almost never see DOS (only for installations) or require so much command prompts in Magic Dosbox - something you HAVE TO in Dosbox Turbo. If the UI and control options had a complete overhaul, this would be awesome. Neat little tool to get your tablet to run old dos games. Don't expect a hand-holding experience; you will have to look it up and it might take about an hour to set up the first time, but it will work. Currently using it to play Master of Magic on it and, besides a few control hardships, it's a pretty fun experience.
There are also a lot of people complaining that the product has been abandoned by the devs. Ironic, seeing as the latest version of DOSbox is from 2010. Share it free download for pc windows 8. There are other free versions around as well, if you'd rather not pay for it, but if you do, expect a very good experience yet slightly difficult learning curve. My only major beef with it is the top-bar on the screen containing the keyboard/joystick/buttons shortcuts and how difficult it can be at times to hide after it's been displayed during gameplay.
Some 17 years after its first release in 1994, and more than five years since 1.0, FreeDOS 1.1 — the definitive, open source version of MS-DOS — is now available to download. The history of FreeDOS stems back to the summer of 1994 when Microsoft announced that as a separate product would no longer be supported. It would live on as part of Windows 95, 98, and (ugh!) Me, but for Jim Hall that wasn’t enough, and so public domain (PD) DOS was born. Other developers quickly jumped on board, a kernel and utilities were made, and a usable version of PD-DOS began to emerge. It wouldn’t be until 1998 that the first alpha build (version 0.05) was released, however; a very slow trend that would continue, with a slew of betas culminating in a final 1.0 build in 2006, some 12 years after the project begun. Eventually, it would be renamed FreeDOS. When I tell the story of FreeDOS to my friends the next question is usually: “So, like, what’s the point of FreeDOS?” — a fair question, given the maturity of Linux and its massive support framework.
Well, for a start, FreeDOS is already extensively used by recovery disks. If you’ve ever made a boot disk for the sake of checking your hard disk or memory, or fixing a broken installation of Windows, you probably used FreeDOS. Beyond that, though, FreeDOS is actually a very good environment for educational or simple systems.
Linux, compared to MS/FreeDOS, is very fat. When combined with QBASIC or (a C/C development environment), FreeDOS makes a surprisingly good development platform. It’s also important to point out that FreeDOS isn’t actually an “old” operating system: It supports FAT32 (with LBA) and UDMA for hard drives and DVD players, and the FreeDOS distro comes with an antivirus scanner and a BitTorrent client. USB support isn’t quite there, but USB keyboards, mice, and external storage can be finagled into working.
